The Scannappeal office has had its doors open again for the last few weeks and it is fantastic that the team are starting to see each other in reality rather than virtually! After the challenges of working from home and trying to negotiate an ever changing environment it is good that the office is offering an element of normality and structure. There is a strong determination from all the team to work harder than ever to ensure that Scannappeal keeps doing what it does best to support our local hospitals. Over the coming weeks, the office will be fully open and our office hours are: Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm.
It is also great to start seeing some volunteers returning, even though in a slightly scaled back capacity. A lot of work has been undertaken to ensure that it is safe and that all guidance can be adhered too. Having some of our volunteers return means that we are able to re-open the doors on our bookshops. Our Wycombe bookshop has remained accessible throughout the whole period with the usual ‘honesty payment’ system in place and we have seen donations continue. We are now delighted that the Amersham and newly opened Stoke Mandeville Bookshop are open between 9am and 4pm. We have a rota of volunteers going in to ensure that restocking, tidying and cleaning is undertaken regularly.
The Breast Biopsy Appeal for £350,000 was completed earlier this year and thanks to your support, patients in Bucks and the surrounding areas will be benefitting from this equipment in the coming weeks. We continue to raise funds to support our current public appeals, including the Bucks MRI Appeal and the Best for Bucks Appeal, and we are currently in the process of confirming some exciting new appeals, so watch this space for further details.
We are still not 100% clear what the future of fundraising will look like in terms of our events programme returning to its former glory. However we are delighted that supporters continue to take on their own personal challenges in aid of Scannappeal. We would be delighted to hear from you if you want to get involved with your own challenge, enter the September Virtual Quiz or take part in September Sparkle. Please do get in touch with the team on 01494 734161 or bht.info.scannappeal@nhs.net, we would love to hear from you.
