The charity relies on volunteers who help make a big difference.

Whatever time you have to give, we can use it! We simply would not be able to run many of our events without the hours donated by our volunteers. The level of commitment is very flexible, whether it is once a week, once a month or on an ad hoc basis.

There are lots of different ways our volunteers support us including; in the office, at events, within our bookshops or pop-ups, at public collections, baking cakes, knitting, marshalling and much, much more!

Volunteer Stories

You can’t live in South Bucks and not have heard of the great work that Scannappeal does, so I was thrilled to join the volunteers team after I retired early. Having worked for 30+ years in a health-related industry AND being an avid book-reader…. being a bookshop volunteer really is the perfect role for me. Creating order out of chaos by processing the generous book donations. Filling up our bookshelves. Helping people find the perfect book – to while away a wait at the hospital, or to take to a loved one on the wards, or to take home to enjoy….. ‘I have been volunteering for Scannappeal for just under a year, occasionally manning the second-hand bookshop in Wycombe Hospital and, more recently, giving assistance to the Finance Team based at Amersham Hospital. I have really enjoyed working for such a worthwhile cause. The equipment funded by Scannappeal benefits so many patients of all ages in our local hospitals and it was this local connection that particularly appealed to me and made me want to volunteer. Dedicated Collection Pot Coordinator (Various Areas Within Bucks)

Our collection pots help us raise thousands in much needed funds each year. We require a dedicated collection pot coordinator to help place and collect pots within local businesses and shops.

Leaflet & Poster Distributors (Various Areas Within Bucks)

Our events account for nearly 30% of our income, but we need help in promoting all our events locally. Our leaflet and poster distributors help spread the word by supplying locally identified shops, businesses and not-for-profit organisations with leaflets and posters to promote our events. If you think you could help us with distribution, please get in touch.

Bucket Collectors Needed (Various Locations Within Bucks)

We are always looking for individuals and groups to support us as bucket collectors to help collect funds at various fundraising activities across Buckinghamshire throughout the year.
