A message from Lisa, Scannappeal Director

Dear Supporter,

Like many of you we are all still adjusting to the need to stay at home, but we recognise how important this is in order to protect loved ones and our extended family within the NHS.

In common with many other charities, coronavirus is having a significant impact on Scannappeal and the work we can do but we are determined that the charity will remain viable and able to continue supporting our local NHS hospitals. After much consideration we have decided to make use of the Government Job Retention Scheme and have furloughed some members of the team within our fundraising and volunteer functions. We believe this to be the right course of action in order to protect the financial security of the charity and individual jobs moving forward. The remaining team are contactable via email and will continue to work hard behind the scenes to ensure ‘business as usual’ as far as possible.

We have also cancelled some forthcoming events and are likely to need to cancel more in the coming weeks. We are contacting people affected by these cancellations, but please bear with us as the team get used to their home working environments and work through each event in date order. In some cases we are pleased to be able to offer a new date, later in the year, but unfortunately some events will not happen at all this year. Please keep an eye on our events page on up to date information.

Most importantly, we continue to raise funds to support our current public appeals, including the Bucks MRI Appeal and Breast Biopsy Appeal. Now more than ever we need your support to ensure we can continue to support the NHS. You can support us at home in so many ways, why not consider holding a virtual quiz or coffee morning with friends or sort through your book collection ready to donate books to our shops when they reopen. Alternatively if you feel able to donate via our website, this would help us to continue to provide state-of-the-art equipment for the hospitals we all hold close to our hearts.

If you’re a Facebook or Twitter user, you’ll be able to get updates at facebook.com/scannappeal or twitter.com/scannappeal. We’ll also keep in touch with regular updates via email and on our website.

We hope to see you soon but until then please stay safe and well.

Best Wishes,

Lisa Trivett

Scannappeal Director
