Coronavirus Update

Scannappeal are taking the risk posed by COVID-19 extremely seriously. We are closely monitoring the ongoing situation and will continue to follow advice from the UK Government.

UPDATE – 23 March 2020

Due to the quickly changing situation we have decided with immediate effect to close our Fundraising Office, based at Amersham Hospital. With the clear advice to stay at home we feel this is the best course of action to protect our team and to help minimise the number of people entering the hospital site. All staff have access to their email accounts and are working hard to ensure Scannappeals current appeals and aims are met during this difficult time. Please stay safe and keep in touch with our latest news which will be published on our website and social media channels.

You will be aware that our local hospitals – Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe, Amersham and Buckingham – have put in place a visitor restriction to try and minimise the risk of spread of the virus.  The health and well-being of our staff, volunteers and supporters is of paramount importance and so we are continually reviewing how we work on a daily basis.

With immediate effect we have made the decision to close all bookshops across the three hospital sites – Wycombe, Stoke Mandeville and Amersham – with immediate effect.  We have stood down all volunteers until further notice so to avoid putting them at risk.  We are duty bound to safeguard our volunteers and feel, at this time, this is the most effective way we can help.

In line with the latest advice from the Government, we have taken the decision to reduce the time spent in the office and encourage the team to work from home where possible.  This means that the office will be closed every Friday until further notice and the rest of the week will run on a skeleton staff rota.

We will do or utmost to continue the work we do in supporting our local hospitals that will need us more than ever, but in these unprecedented times we are aware that the impact will have a significant effect on our fundraising.  We are determined that we will fulfil our obligation to fundraise for our two current appeals – Bucks MRI Appeal and Breast Biopsy Appeal – and beyond.  However with the new government advice on mass gatherings and social distancing, we unfortunately have to postpone and cancel some of our fundraising events. Please check our events calendar for up-to-date information.

Lastly, it goes without saying that we wish everyone well in these difficult times.
