Representatives from Scannappeal and Wycombe Homeless Connection recently attended a cheque presentation at the District Council Offices with the 2016/17 Wycombe Mayor, Zia Ahmed. Both charities kindly received a cheque for over £8,500 each from the money raised during Zia Ahmed’s year as High Wycombe Mayor.
During the year the Mayor and his incredible committee organised a series of events including family fun days, curry nights, quiz nights, charity dinners and the Mayors Ball. The committee worked tirelessly to plan the events and ensure that the most amount of money could be raised to benefit his two chosen charities.
Scannappeal Trustee, Susie Weisz, said: “Mayor Zia Ahmed chose to support Scannappeal’s Cancer Fighting Fund which is raising £130,000 to purchase a piece of state of the art equipment for Wycombe Hospital that will treat patients with prostate, kidney and bladder cancers. We are so grateful to Zia, all the committee and to the local community for supporting the events and making his fundraising year such a success”.
