Did you know that Scannappeal was able to claim over £40,000 in Gift Aid in the 2020/21 tax year, without any further cost to our donors? As you can appreciate, this extra income is vital in our annual fundraising for Buckinghamshire NHS hospitals and is a easy way for you to increase your giving to Scannappeal. In simple terms a donation of £20 could automatically be increased to £25 if the Gift Aid box is ticked!
Find out how you can sign up for Gift Aid to make your gift to Scannappeal go even further:
What is Gift Aid? The Gift Aid scheme allows charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers from HM Revenue and Customs. This means that for every £1 you donate to Scannappeal, we will receive £1.25 in total, without any additional cost to you.
Am I eligible for Gift Aid? You are eligible if you are a UK taxpayer or the tax you pay that year is at least equal to your donations to charity
How does it work? You will need to complete a Gift Aid declaration form. We can then claim Gift Aid on all your donations in the last 4 years and all future donations.
This form confirms that you are a UK taxpayer and that your charitable donations to us do not exceed the amount of tax you have paid during the tax year. If you pay less income tax and/or capital gains tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year, it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
How do I sign up for Gift Aid?
Online: If you are making a donation via our website, you will be given the option to add Gift Aid by simply ticking a box. We will need to gather a few details from you to make this happen, including full name and address, including postcode.
By post: Our donation forms allow you to add gift aid or alternatively you can download and complete a form from our website and send it to: Scannappeal, Amersham Hospital, Whielden Street, Amersham, Bucks HP7 0JD
By phone: Call our fundraising team on 01494 734161 and we can take your request verbally or send you a form to complete.
Keep your records up to date
It’s important that you let us know if you stop paying tax or if you change your name/address so that we can update our records. This can be done by email, letter or phone.
Is my donation eligible?
Gift Aid can be claimed on money provided they are gifts. As a UK taxpayer, you can claim as an individual on a one-off or monthly donation, personal donations made in celebration or in memory and donations to sponsored events. Certain donations are not eligible such as fundraising events that require purchasing tickets (e.g. entry to an event, prize draws, raffles, tombolas), items bought in our book shops, proceeds from group collections and donations made by a company.
If you would like to know more, or find out if your donation could be eligible for gift aid, please call our fundraising team on 01494 734161.
