We are pleased to announce that two additional neighbouring gardens will also be open alongside Spindrift – Comley Bank and Downfield\, which are all joined by a footpath. \nSpindrift hosts a series of imaginative beautiful gardens which begin on the flat and lead gently downhill. The gardens have evolved since the sixties and include an extremely productive fruit and vegetable kitchen garden and a terrace of more than 190 varieties of hostas\, a Monet-styled area and many water features. A pond and waterfall lead down into a magical dell. There is something at every turn\, mature planting\, established herbaceous borders and a multitude of tulips. Tea and homemade cake will be available to purchase throughout the afternoon. \nComely Bank (entry via Spindrift).\nThis garden has been re-designed and landscaped over the last 10 years. Benefiting from established trees surrounding the grounds\, it now enjoys woodland gardens\, combined with informal cottage planting. A pond area attracts natural wildlife. Ever-changing through the seasons\, springtime arrives with great displays of daffodils and tulips\, followed by alliums and aquilegias and then bright summer colours throughout all the beds and borders complimented with gently arching tree ferns \nDownfield (entry via Spindrift).\nDownfield is approximately one acre on two levels. There is a formal front and back lawn on a shallow slope with a wild patch set above a landscaped dell designed to resemble a dry river bed. \nTickets £6 for adults and under 16’s £3 in advance only. SUMMARY:Lands End to John O’Groats Virtual Race
DESCRIPTION:Run the length of the UK in support of our local Bucks NHS hospitals. \nWho will reach John O’Groats first? \nStarting from the 1st May teams of up to 10 people can register to take part in the Scannappeal virtual race following the iconic route from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. As a team you will need to cover the full 874 miles and work together to motivate one another to reach the end. Every mile you cover by foot can be included in your group total and it doesn’t matter if you walk or run or decide to pound the treadmill rather than venture outdoors. \nRegistration is £8 per person and we encourage each team to set up a Just Giving page with a target of £250\, but you could set out to try and raise £1 for every mile you cover and be in with a chance to win our team sponsorship prize. \nThe race officially starts on 1st May and the first team to reach John O’Groats will be awarded with a prize and all participants will receive a medal. \nAll monies raised will support our work within Buckinghamshire NHS hospitals\, now more than ever they need our support.
