SUMMARY:Chearsley Hill House - Open Garden
DESCRIPTION:**TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE TO BUY ON THE DOOR** \nChearsley Hill House was built by the Green family in 1890 who made their money from selling land for the then new railway line. Sir Henry Floyd the former Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire lived there until his death in a riding accident in 1968. When the village fete was held there in the 1950’s Vivian Leigh was known to have opened it. At the time she lived in nearby Notley Abbey with Sir Lawrence Olivier. \nThe garden of some 7 acres was redesigned by Arne Maynard\, a previous winner of Best in Show at RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It is set out in a series of vertical and horizontal lines with informality introduced through water and wildflower meadows. The main structural elements were completed in 2005 with the rose garden\, designed by Acres Wild\, finished in 2016. The third and final phase of the woodland walk and lakeside planting was carried out in 2022. Designed by local garden designer Richard Rogers. Live music will be played throughout the afternoon\, courtesy of Lou’s Sextet Band. During the lunchtime period\, there will also be a BBQ available to purchase. \nTickets: £15 in advance and includes tea\, coffee and cake. Under 16’s £5\, under 5’s free. \nNotes:- Limited disabled access. Sorry\, no dogs allowed.
